  16. Prepare 1 small tomato(finely chopped)
  17. Prepare 2 green chillies
  18. Take 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  19. Take 1 tsp red chilli powder
  20. Make ready 1 tsp coriander powder
  21. Get 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  22. Prepare to taste Salt
  23. Take 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  24. Take 1 tbsp butter

Toor Dal made with onions, tomato's, garlic and ginger. Dal Tadka is a North Indian dal (lentil) recipe made from Toor Dal & gets its distinct taste from a flavorful & aromatic tempering of ghee, cumin seeds, heeng (asafoetida) & red chillies.   1. Wash all dals twice and soak for 15-20 mins. Add turmeric powder and pressure cook it for 4 whistles. Let it cool down naturally. keep aside.
  2. Now prepare tadka. Take a deep bottom kadhai. Add 3 tbsp of ghee and 1/2 tsp oil, cumin seeds, Asafoetida, red chillies, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, onion, tomato. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi. Cook for 2 mins on medium flame.
  3. Take out some portion for garnishing. Now add cooked dal to the kadhai. Add salt.
  4. Before switching off the flame and butter to it. Garnish with the remaining tadka before serving.
