I bought Figs/Anjeer for the first time to make smoothies. I initially thought of making anjeer modaks but later went with just the burfis. The pictures do not make justice to this dish. Dates figs burfi is very easy to make and is very nutritious.

Great option for kids lunchbox or after school snack. Anjeer Badam Burfi- This is a very healthy, tasty and easy to make sweet dish. She makes mava/khoya at home by boiling milk and then adds the soaked and ground dried fig and nuts paste to it. Take figs and dates in a microwave safe bowl.

Instructions to make Fig burfi:
  1. Deseed dates.Chop them roughly.Soak figs in hot water for a while.In 1/2 tsp ghee fry the chopped nuts and set aside.
  2. Drain water and take soaked figs in a mixer and grind it to a paste,Set aside.Now add chopped dates and grind to a paste
  3. In a pan add a tsp ghee add the fig dates mixture and keep sauteing for 5mins, add little ghee in between.At one stage it will forma mass and will come together without sticking
  4. At this stage add roasted nuts and give a quick mix, Switch off and set aside to cool.
  5. Make 2 logs from the mixture and roll over roasted pistachio powder to coat the outer layer.
  6. Wrap it in a butter paper.I made one log with poppy seeds coating and other plain.
  7. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate it atleast for 2 hrs.Then slice and serve.
