The first time I made this recipe, hubby was a little skeptical about the turmeric and cilantro, but I followed the recipe as written.

Only twist to the tale is that I decided to replace pakoras (fried dumplings) with Dal Wadi , this makes this dish really yummy & adds a spice to the mix. Tamatar Ki Kadhi is a flavourful Jain recipe which you can serve as a main dish for a healthy feast. This is an easy-to-make main dish recipe that can be prepared with common ingredients that are easily available in your kitchen. But at the same time, I still haven't perfected any shot.
Steps to make Kadhi chawal shots:
- For pakodi, take besan and put some Buttermilk and water and stir well
- Add salt, chilli powder, chopped onion, baking soda,salt to taste and all ingredients and make pakodi wali consistency
- Now in a wok leave small portion of this batter to form small round pakodi shape.
- It will expand a lot due to baking soda and Buttermilk
- Whisk batter nicely to get fluffier pakodies
- Now fry all pakodi and keep aside
- For Kadhi
- Take besan in a big pan and add Buttermilk and water to.
- Whisk nicely.make sure no lumps are there.
- Don't add salt now
- Add turmericpowder a lil
- Now in a big utensil, add 2tbs oil, once hot add fanugreek seeds,heeng and pour Buttermilk and besan solution in same
- Stir nicely in between. Don't add salt at this point as this will help kadhi to not to come out of utensil
- Once you feel kadhi getting tjcker and colur changing lil to dark, add salt,coriander powder and you can add lil tartric acid if kadhi is not saur
- Keep on stirring kadhi,else may burn
- You may add lil water,if you feel its getting fhicker as desired.
- Now add pakodies and let it boil for next 15-20.min. point is pakodi should absorb kadhi flavours completely.
- Once done and you get desided consistency, switch off the gas and transfer it in serving dish.
- Take tadka pan, add oil, heend, mustard seeds, kadhi patta, dry chilli whole and lastly dry red chilli powder. Once splatter, immediately add to kadhi and cover pan to sustain the smell and flavours.
- Kadhi pakora is ready to serve in different styles. Adding few pic for refrence
- Serve as shots, well or mix.
