Thepla is a flatbread similar to paratha, made of whole wheat flour, oil and spice powders like turmeric, red chili powder etc. To make variations of thepla, ingredients like millet flour, besan, curd, fenugreek leaves (methi) or grated bottle gourd are used. Most Gujaratis love eating their Theplas with curd or.

The ingredients needed to make Methi paratha/Thepla:
  1. Get 2 cup wheat flour
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp - gram flour
  3. Get 11/2 cup - fenugreek leaves(methi)
  4. Get 1 tsp-Red chilli powder
  5. Get 1/4 tsp-Turmeric powder
  6. Get 1/2 tsp- carom seed(Ajwain)
  7. Take 1/2 tsp-Cumin seeds
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp-Sesame seed
  9. Get 1 tsp-Corinder powder
  10. Prepare 1 tbsp - Green chillies, ginger and garlic paste
  11. Get to taste Salt
  12. Make ready Oil as required

Gujarati Methi Thepla, a must try lightly spiced paratha like Indian flat-bread is prepared from wheat flour, fenugreek leaves and other spices. The real secret of mouth-watering taste of methi theplas prepared with this recipe lies in making perfect dough, which has just right balance of spices and fenugreek leaves. I rarely make stuffed chapathi for dinner. Though i know its very easy n quick to make , i am not doing this often.

Steps to make Methi paratha/Thepla:
  1. In a bowl take wheat flour. Add gram flour, red chilli powder,coriander powder cumin seeds, turmeric powder, sesame seeds, garlic-ginger- green chillies paste, salt and mix well everything.
  2. Methi leaves and wash them. Dry the methi leaves a little and chop them finally. Add methi leaves and mix well.
  3. Add little water and at time to knead to dough a little thick dough.apply the 1/2tsp oil and knead it well again. Cover and rest the dough for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Now medium size ball dough roll and flatten it.also dust for some wheat flour.roll it in thin circle for paratha.
  5. Now on hot tawa place the roll paratha and cook for 2min.add apply oil and press slightly Cook for paratha both side until golden brown.
  6. Ready to methi paratha serve Peanut chatuney, pickle, curd, raita, curries.

I rarely make stuffed chapathi for dinner. Though i know its very easy n quick to make , i am not doing this often. At least this year i should try more varieties n post here. Nowadays i make thepla often in my kitchen as it is the only dish i know with methi leaves;). I don't saute the leaves as it loses its nutrients.
