Rub both the flesh side and skin side of the fillets with a bit of olive oil, and season well. Grilled mackerel is delicious - especially cooked on the BBQ, but if the weather is rubbish then cooked under a super hot grill works just as well (which is how I cooked the one in my photo).   1. Clean and wash the mackerel thoroughly. Make 2-3 deep cuts on both the sides, keep aside.
  2. Grind soaked dry chilli, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, coriander leaves(optional) and salt to a fine paste. Rub this paste on fish thoroughly and marinate it for 15-20 min.
  3. Heat a griller. Grease it with li'l oil and place the fish for 8-10 min or till the fish is cooked on both sides and the surface nicely browned and crisp. Baste a li'l oil if required. Serve hot, garnish with onion rings or tomato slices. Bon Appétit!
