Paan Shots is a refreshing paan drink made using paan betel leaves and gulkand. But what happened was I had bought paan leaves to make a Paan and Gulkand Cake. But then the paan leaves were not fresh enough and I was thinking of how I will put it all together. vanilla extract - optional. No buttermilk, no baking soda / bi carb, no yoghurt.
Instructions to make Fig, vanilla and gulkand truff:
- For Fig layer: Soak dried figs in water for 5-6 hrs
- Remove sides of the bread slices
- Grind the figs and bread slices coarsely in grinder
- In a serving bowls, put a small layer of fig mixture at the bottom and press lightly with spoon and keep in fridge for 1/2 hr to set
- For the vanilla layer: Take 1/2 lit of milk in a pan and add vanilla pudding mix, stir well
- Take a bubbling boil with continuous stirring. Let it cool a little
- Now pour the vanilla mix on the fig layer carefully. After cooling keep in fridge to set
- For the cream layer: pour 1 cup of whipping cream in a pan
- Add gulkand and pink food colour and beat until soft peaks forms
- Put this cream on Vanilla layer
- Repeat the fig and cream layer
- Garnish and serve chilled
But then the paan leaves were not fresh enough and I was thinking of how I will put it all together. vanilla extract - optional. No buttermilk, no baking soda / bi carb, no yoghurt. You only need baking soda for an extra fluff boost when you have add ins in pancakes, like Blueberry Pancakes, because it weighs the batter down. Why limit yourself to just butter and maple syrup? Gulkand (also written gulqand or gulkhand) is a sweet preserve of rose petals believed to come from Indo-Persia.
