The ingredients needed to make Tandoori Chicken:
- Get 8 Chicken leg pcs (Tikka style)
- Prepare 1 and half tbsp Ginger garlic paste

The tandoor oven is what gives this amazing dish its unique flavour, texture and smoky fragrance. Tandoori chicken gets its name from the bell-shaped tandoor clay oven which is also used to make naan, or Indian flatbread. Skinless legs and thighs are marinated in a tenderizing mixture of yogurt, lemon juice, and spices and the meat is slashed to the bone in several places helping the marinade penetrate and the chicken cook more quickly. The raw chicken is marinated in yogurt flavoured with spices.
Steps to make Tandoori Chicken:
- After washing Chicken, put some cuts on it and pat dry.
- Now marinate it with salt & lemon juice and leave it for 30 mins.
- Now grind to make powder of coriander seeds, cumin seeds & ajwain.
- Now marinate chicken with all the ingrediants except oil.
- Leave it for at least 2 to 4 hrs or over night.
- Now give it Coal smoke for 2 mins
- Now brush it with oil & bake it in pre heated oven on 200°c for about 45 to 50 mins.
- After 25 mins flip the sides.
- It'll release some water, You can either discard it or store it in a container to use it later. Will share how to use this water in next recipe Insha'Allah.

I like to use a really thick Greek yogurt for this so you get a generous layer of the marinade on the chicken which in turn changes to a "crust" when you cook it. The heat will seal in juice inside the chicken. To avoid dryness on the skin and the surface of the chicken, baste with oil half way and turn the chicken over while baking.
